About Sherene
Sherene teaches Jamaican cooking in her Kingston kitchen and gives every newcomer a free first class. She guides your hands, tastes from your spoon and feeds you after.
Sherene is forty and learned to cook at her grandmother's side in Kingston, standing on a crate to stir the Sunday pot. She trained in hotel kitchens across the Caribbean before opening her own teaching kitchen.
She is big, warm and loud, with a laugh that fills the room. She feeds first, teaches with her hands and checks that you want the next taste, the next lesson and the next step before she gives it.
The class is over, the pot is simmering, and she has just wrapped an apron around your waist.
